The NRVBA board has decided not to hold a Mountains of Misery event in 2020.
This decision came after much discussion and investigation. This event needs to be a "Big Event" or the club will lose money and we cannot risk the club’s financial sustainability to carry out one event. We believe we would do a disservice to the community and club as a whole by doing so.
A "Big Event" needs planning and significant up front work that cannot be completed for 2020. We are planning on rolling the revamped version of MoM summer 2021, with a concrete date to be announced this August. This will ensure that we can run a sustainable event that gives our members and the community the best experience possible.
Ed Hokanson will lead a self supported club ride this year to check out the proposed new MoM routes, so stay tuned for details on that!
We will be introducing a larger scale gravel event with multiple mileage options later this fall! We’re excited to put this event on – it will be a great addition to our yearly ride calendar.
We do still offer a century ride yearly – the Burkes Garden Century. We encourage you to participate in this event, as well as the many others we put on throughout the year. We’ve worked hard to diversify and increase our event calendar and hope our members are enjoying what we offer.
